Ellipse

The video Ellipse tells a semi-fictive story on bird and rock migration in relation to the glaciations and cosmic forces. A reflection on longing and belonging on a personal, landscape and planetary level. The video is filmed in the Åland archipelago (FI), an area shaped by the movement of the ice during the ice ages. The title refers to the theory of Milutin Milankoviç, who linked the ice ages to the Earth’s orbit around the sun. Sounds and music are provided by Johannes Eimermacher and La Nuée, a band from Brussels that explores flock behaviour as a leading thread for improvisation.
